Vero Software and SCM Group Host Successful
Woodworking Tour Featuring SCM Machinery and
ALPHACAM, CABINET VISION & WORKPLAN

Vero Software and SCM Group recently hosted a successful Woodworking Tour and educational seminar in Ohio, where attendees were shown real-life applications and detailed overviews of the ALPHACAM, CABINET VISION, and WORKPLAN solutions, as well as SCM machinery.

“Vero and SCM we have been hosting seminars for the past eight years in the Ohio region, providing software, hardware and tooling information for the woodworking industry.  This year was by far our most attended event,” said Vero Regional Sales Manager Mike Littlejohn, who oversees sales of Vero’s woodworking brands in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Western New York.

“Many of our attendees stated that they’re looking for proven software and hardware solutions, and nothing compares to seeing both working together in multiple large commercial manufacturing facilities in actual live production. Seeing the SCM Flexstore and CABINET VISION running together was truly an impressive sight at Dover Cabinet Industries, which was the highlight of the event.”

Hosted in Sugarcreek, Ohio, the event drew 54 attendees from 29 companies over the course of two days. Tours of three woodworking facilities, which utilize a combination of SCM machinery and Vero solutions to achieve greater production value and efficiency, were a highlight for participants. Ohio woodworking companies nüCamp RV of Sugarcreek, Schlabach Wood Design of Baltic, and Dover Cabinet Industries of Dover were featured stops on the tour.

“The synergy between the software, machines and tooling impressed me, as it does take all three to make it happen,” said Paul Beitner, vice president of operations for Candlelight Cabinetry of Lockport, New York. “To visit shops where this is a daily practice cements the key elements together. It was a great learning experience.”

Attending the tour and seminar was an eye-opener for Ray Staples of Holland, Michigan, wood department manager for Fleetwood Group, Inc. Staples said he regretted not bringing more team members to the educational event.

“We’ve been looking at how what we’re selling is changing and we have to come up with a faster way to make it,” said Staples, who has been with Fleetwood for 32 years. “We’ve decided to go with what works, and so we’re looking to get into nesting.”

In addition to gaining a greater depth of knowledge about tooling, Staples discovered that his company could utilize the capabilities of ALPHACAM more fully.

“I cannot begin to tell you what I learned,” Staples said. “You need to educate yourself; you can’t wait for someone else to do it for you.”

Nine different pieces of SCM Group equipment were featured on the tour, including an SCM Flexstore storage and retrieval system, a Morbidelli 400 Full Nesting Cell, a Gabbiani T3 3800 front-load saw with label printing, and a Stefani Edgebander with Mahros return conveyor.
